UB Bring Home the Bronze Medal IGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine)
At the end of October, last month, two UB students from the Department of Biological Science went to Boston to represent Indonesian UB team in the IGEM Giant Jamboree 2014. The competition was attended by more than 200 teams from 33 countries in this world lasts for 5 days on October 30 to November 3, 2014. From Indonesia there are 4 teams participating, namely Universitas Brawijaya (UB Indonesia), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB Indonesia), University of Indonesia (UI Indonesia), and the University of Technology Sumbawa (Sumbawagen).
Presentation activities consist of oral presentations and poster presentations. Oral presentations conducted in parallel in several rooms Hynes Convention Center starting from October 31 to November 2, 2014. UB Indonesia scheduled presentation on October 31 assessed by six judges who come from a variety of fields. After that followed by a poster presentation held on October 31 and October 2 at 05:30 pm until 8:00 pm EDT. The great thing is when a poster presentation to coincide with the celebration of Halloween and poster presentations of the participants brought many attributes costumes so much attention.
Judges assessment based on the achievement of targets for submitting biobricks which has successfully combined from several biobricks that has been distributed by the IGEM. Cooperation among team also will add a plus for medals each team. Based on the assessment Indonesian UB team has managed to get a Bronze Medal for having managed to collect two pieces of work biobricks wetlab.
